Last night, I had a wonderful opportunity to dine with my husband and son as a “prevue” of the menu at one of the selected restaurants, Dawson’s at the Hyatt.
We were greeted with friendly smiles and led to our seats in a private dim-lit location of the restaurant. We received warm bread served with butter and a homemade Tapenade. Chef Ian Libberton compiles 3 different olives with anchovies to make such a flavorful & delicious Tapenade.
My husband ordered:
Starter: Spinach Salad- topped with Crisp Onion and drizzled with Sherri Vinaigrette.
Entree: Roasted Game Hen which was served with whipped potatoes, natural reduction and seasonal vegetables.
Dessert: Bannana Foster Cheesecake
I ordered :
Starter: Dawson’s Wedge Salad with Blue cheese Crumbles drizzled with a red win vinaigrette.
Entree: Grilled top sirloin which was served with fingerling potatoes, chimichurri and seasonal vegetables.
Dessert: Carrot cake with cream cheese frosting.
My husband and I were thoroughly pleased with our meal selection. It was apparent that each item on their menu was delicately made with love. Our meals were absolutely delicious. Chef Ian Libberton is certainly an essential asset to Dawson’s.
And because dessert is always my primary focus, I need to let you in on one a big secret- If you are looking for a fabulously-divine piece of carrot cake, Dawson’s has it! Carrot cake has always been my favorite dessert since I was a little girl. I have tried a lot of carrot cake in my 26 years of life and I can confidently say that Dawson’s makes the best carrot cake I have ever indulged in. I am over the moon excited to find a local place who makes such a incredible carrot cake. I can’t wait to be the first to tell all of my friends about it!
Dawson’s carrot cake is garnished with thin slices of deep fried carrot peals. The chef fries the carrot peals for 15 seconds which gives each slice a fancy curled appearance. The carrot cake recipe includes leading ingredients such as fresh apples, carrots and a blend of various spices. Each moist slice of carrot cake is frosted with a delicious cream cheese frosting which leads to absolute perfection.
Dawson’s Pastry Chef, Vo, perfected their carrot cake recipe at this very location of Dawson’s. The Hyatt was beyond thrilled with their customers positive response that they put Vo’s Carrot Cake creation on all menus of the Hyatt’s very own, Dawson’s. Yes, that means that you can go to New York or any other location and try the same exact recipe of carrot cake that I am in-love with.
If you decide to visit Dawson’s in Sacramento- be sure to request Arty as your Server. He was genuine, kind & welcoming. It was by far the best service my husband & I have experienced. Rumor has it, many of their regulars call in advance to request Arty before their dining experience.
We can’t wait to hear all about your Dine Downtown experience!
