A dear friend of mine, Tessa Lindow-Huff of The Frosted Cake Shop, and I teamed up to produce some holiday treats for some of our favorite local businesses and colleagues.
Tessa and I met in 2007 while working together at a local bakery. After we both parted ways with the bakery, our sweet friendship continued. Over the past 5 years of friendship, some very exciting things have happened in our lives. Tessa opened up her boutique cake studio, The Frosted Cake Shop, and I launched Best Friends For Frosting, an online magazine premiering top rated dessert recipes.
Tessa and I try to fit in a monthly coffee date “business meeting” to chat about the latest dessert trends and share ideas. Last month, Tessa proposed the exciting idea of collaborating on a project together. We planned to visit some of our favorite local businesses with cupcakes and cake pops for the holidays. It was our way of saying “Thank you” for being such a wonderful part of our community.
We spent countless hours planning and working on this project together. After finalizing our flavor menu and distribution list, we got to work. Tessa invited me into the kitchen over at The Frosted Cake Shop to bake, frost, decorate, and package our treats. In the end, we made the following creations:
All of the cakes and frosting were made from scratch. We even did some taste-testing to make sure they were super delicious and festive.
Cupcakes:
- Red Velvet Snowballs with Coconut Topping
- Gingerbread Cupcakes with Cinnamon Spice Frosting
- Eggnog Latte Cupcakes with Toffee Bits
- Orange-Cranberry-Clove Cupcakes with Sparkling Champagne Frosting
- Chocolate Candy Cane Cupcakes with Peppermint Frosting
- Pumpkin Spice Cupcakes with Caramel Frosting
Cake Pops:
- Chocolate Candy Cane Cake Pops
- Red Velvet Snowball Cake Pops
The following morning, Tessa and I met to finish garnishing and packaging the treats to get the delivery ready. We spent the day out-and-about on the town delivering to our lucky recipients. It was so wonderful to meet so many talented people behind some of our favorite publications and companies.
As the new year has approached, we wish everyone a happy new year! Tessa and I look forward to more collaborations in the future, so please stay tuned!
Happy New Years, Melissa & Tessa
