One look at this picture and I was hooked – this cupcake has to be good simply because it is so gorgeous. Susan, at Sticky, Gooey, Creamy, Chewy has outdone herself on this one. Funny thing is, this sinfully good recipe for Devils Food Cupcakes with Strawberry-Balsamic Buttercream started out from failure. After her initial cake flopped, Susan turned to a Devils Food cake mix. After adding a little coffee and a little cocoa, plus a silky Swiss buttercream, perfection was achieved. Oh, and I can’t forget to mention the roasted strawberries that she just happened to have in her fridge. After reading about them, I decided I want some of those strawberries in MY fridge. . . But wait there’s more, Susan completed her masterpieces by drizzling a super rich bittersweet chocolate glaze over the tops.
This just proves my theory that we can learn something from every failure we have in the kitchen. This time, we learned that we should never shun a cake mix – there’s perfection waiting right inside!
