Just Call Me Martha is such a fun blog that includes desserts, dessert tables, and much more! Everything Leoni does just amazes me… I might as well as call her Martha too! We chatted with Leoni about her favorite cake recipes and tools, and the best place to get supplies. Leoni told us all about the name of her blog, what inspired it, and what she hope to do in future.
How long were you an interior decorator for?
Just Call Me Martha (Leoni): Not very long, only for about 3 years before I knew it wasn’t the job for me, not creative enough.
When did you decorate your very first cake?
Just Call Me Martha (Leoni): I’ve always made cakes for my children since they were born, but they weren’t very good. I decorated my very 1st customer cake in February 2010. It was very scary for me.
Which dessert supplies are your favorite to work with?
Just Call Me Martha (Leoni): I love working with Cakes around Town. They are online, convenient, and have great customer service.
What is your favorite cake decorating trick?
Just Call Me Martha (Leoni): I love using impression and stencil mats to make my cakes look simple and classy. It also saves time and looks like you’ve gone to a lot of effort. I cannot live without my…rolling pin and kitchen mixer.
What is your favorite dessert recipe of all time?
Just Call Me Martha (Leoni): My vanilla butter cake recipe. It’s easy to make and can easily be converted into any flavor I like.

Just Call Me Martha (Leoni): There are too many gorgeous blogs out there, but if you made me choose it would have to be Amy Atlas Events, Hostess with the Mostess, and Kate Landers Events LLC.
How did you come up with the name, Just call me Martha?
Just Call Me Martha (Leoni): It’s actually a bit of tongue in cheek humour, since I love to paint, sew, craft and bake (and LOVE Martha Stewart). My friends started calling me MARTHA each time they emailed me or phoned me. The name started sticking, and as a joke I created my blog calling it Just Call Me Martha.
Have you met Martha Stewart yet?
Just Call Me Martha (Leoni): No, that would be my ultimate dream. Not sure if it will ever happen though since I live in Australia. I would love to attend one of her shows one day.
Tell us about some of your favorite opportunities with Just call me Martha:
Just Call Me Martha (Leoni): I’ve had the opportunity to meet some amazing people and make some beautiful new friends like Little Big Company and Lily Chic Events. This has allowed me to do some work for photo shoots and parties I never would have thought of doing in the past.
Any exciting news or announcements for Just call me Martha?
Just Call Me Martha (Leoni): I am hoping to give my Blog a face lift in 2012. I have some lovely photo shoots coming up and will perhaps get some features in magazines in 2012.
