I am a lover of cookbooks. Despite the fact that I spend countless hours using my phone or laptop to instruct me in the kitchen, there’s nothing like the feel of a cookbook in your hand. My favorite cookbook is riddled with handwritten notes, post-its, photos, and reviews. There is a connection that you create with a cookbook that you just can’t get from using a computer. It becomes your helpful companion, your guide for all things holiday, and your strict instructor. I think, in essence, what I love about cookbooks is also what I love about food blogs. You have a direct connection with your chef or baker. You see their tragedies and triumphs, their likes and dislikes, their unique techniques. That exact connection is the reason I am really so pleased to be presenting these next books for you. They are a collection of new books from some amazingly talented bloggers and I hope you all will love them just as much as I do.
CakeSpy Presents Sweet Treats for a Sugar-Filled Life by Jessie Oleson, author of the popular blog CakeSpy, is, as one reviewer said, “full of fun, whimsy, and some silly desserts/breakfast sweets.” This book is an absolute necessity for anyone who could sometimes use a full on sugar overload. It contains tons of fun recipes, more adorable illustrations than you can handle in one sitting, and a whole lot of pink. Talk about awesome.
The Joy the Baker Cookbook is a recent addition to my collection, and it is quickly becoming one of my favorites. Authored by Joy Wilson, founder of the popular blog Joy the Baker, the book offers helpful hints and tricks for baking novices and expert bakers alike, along with beautiful images and serving suggestions. The book boasts almost entirely new recipes from those seen on Joy’s site and is a necessity in any baker’s book collection.
The Cookie Dough Lover’s Cookbook from Lindsay Landis of Love&Olive Oil will debut on June 5th, 2012, and I, for one, am extremely excited.
