How to Make Easy Hamburger Cake & Cupcakes

One of my favorite things about summer is that it gives us another reason to barbeque. But this isn’t your everyday barbeque. Easy hamburger cake and cupcake recipes have circulated the blogosphere for quite some time, and I have jumped on board to be a part of it.   I made these hamburger cupcakes and cake for my friend Chantel’s 30th birthday bash.  She told me she is more of a cake person than a frosting person, but overall she prefers brownies.  Her husband was hosting her a hamburger slider themed party, so these treats were the perfect addition.

It’s amazing how easy this cake was to make.   Chantel said, “Betty Crocker is famous for a reason,” so I used cake mix, brownie mix, and one of my favorite frosting recipes.  The funny thing is, Chantel said this before we both learned that we would have a partnership with Sprinkles & Grins (Betty Crocker & Cake Mate Products).  Chantel owns Eleakis & Elder Photography and she has done all the photographs for the collaboration.  I can hardly wait to share them with you.

Magonlia Bakery’s Vanilla Buttercream Frosting Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 6 to 8 cups confectioners’ sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract

Directions

  1. In the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, combine butter, 4 cups sugar, milk and vanilla. Beat on medium speed until smooth and creamy, 3 to 5 minutes. Gradually add remaining sugar–1 cup at a time, beating for about 2 minutes after each addition, until frosting reaches desired consistency; you may not need to add all the sugar. Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
