Kaitlin of Whisk Kid’s Five Favorite Blogs

Kaitlin is the mastermind behind the blog Whisk Kid. She has a knack for perfectly frosted cakes and wonderful flavor combinations. She has been seen on The Martha Stewart Show, and today, we have her sharing her top five favorite blogs with us!

Desserts for Breakfast
Stephanie’s Desserts for Breakfast is a classy and intriguing, but still comfortable, place. Her creations are sophisticated, warm, creative, and inviting; they’re clever and unique, but never overwhelming. She makes the kind of things you’d bake to impress, and often introduces me to new ingredients. That being said, she’s got a knack for flavors, and she isn’t afraid to combine them in unfamiliar ways. Her blog is refreshing in this “peanut butter and chocolate” world!

The Spinning Plate
This is not your typical food blog. Angela’s photos and recipes are terrific, no doubt, but what keeps me coming back is her writing. It’s so raw and real that I just can’t get my fill of it. It’s sort of something you have to read yourself to appreciate.

BraveTart
If you want to learn about baking, and see some really unique stuff, you should be reading Stella’s work over at BraveTart. She’s extremely funny, insanely creative, and incredibly bright. Her recipes are far from run-of-the-mill, but I suppose that’s to be expected considering that she was just named one of America’s Best New Pastry Chefs by Food & Wine, hmm? She’s currently doing a series on recreating childhood favorites, which I’m really enjoying. Check out her site – I promise you’ll like what you see.

Willow Bird Baking
I’m going to start by saying this: Julie is a doll. She is so sweet, so sincere, and just so dang nice that everything in her blog is laced with wonderfulness. She’s always teaching some kind of lesson (and not just because she’s a teacher) through careful observation and thoughtful processing. Her blog is as much of a treat to read as her creations are to eat, and that’s saying something. Willow Bird Baking is an insightful and optimistic place featuring occasionally over-the-top and approachable goodies. She really knows how to make her guests feel welcome, so you’ll be glad you stopped by!

Raspberri Cupcakes
When Stephanie makes something, she makes it like BLAM. All of her recipes are at least one step beyond what you would expect them to be, and they always look awesome. They’re showstoppers – wonderful, delicious, mind-blowing showstoppers – and you’d be committing a sin if you didn’t have yourself a peek! She is a master of macarons and clever cakes, among other things, and I’m impressed by each and every thing she posts. I think you will be, too!
