Today, we’re offering you an exclusive look at entertaining with Carmen of The Flair Exchange. She’s sharing all of her secrets on how to host the perfect party!
Fave DIY decoration to make: Oh, this is a tough one! I’m really into making all kinds of garlands and buntings. You can catch a few of my fave DIYs here and here. Truthfully though, I love any DIY décor element.
Fave location to host a party: My favorite location to host a party is my home! We have a very large backyard that is perfect for entertaining. Entertaining at home is so personal and welcoming, a feeling that no other location could offer. We actually held our wedding ceremony and reception at our home, so it is very dear to my heart.
Tip for simplicity: To keep parties simpler for me, I offer foods that require little prep and items that can be ordered from a cafe or bistro. My favorite item to serve is antipasto skewers. They can be prepared quickly and in advance. There is nothing worse that spending all day in the kitchen and being exhausted once guests arrive! After all, it is a party and the hostess should get to enjoy it too.
Best Kept Secret: My best kept secret is definitely the party music playlist! I think this detail is often overlooked. My husband and I spend hours pouring over music, curating the perfect playlist that works with the theme and the flow of the evening. Music helps set the mood and deserves a little more attention in the party planing process.
I can’t live without: Signature cocktails are a must! I really want my guests to experience my parties, not just attend them. A signature cocktail or beverage is so easily customized and serves up quite an impression. Get your guests involved in making their drinks too!
Currently Shopping at: When it comes to shopping for a party, I try really hard to use things I already have. I love finding vintage glassware at a local shop in FL called Adjectives and am always on the lookout for new handmade sellers on Etsy. There are of course things like flowers that must be purchased for each individual event, so those I pick up from the local market.
