Have you redone your kitchen to a T? Have you added a little creative pop to everything you could think of? We bet you didn’t think of this unique idea by our contributor Raquel of Horses and Heels… and don’t worry, neither did we. This DIY painted knife holder project is a definite standout, and makes a huge difference in the aesthetic of your kitchen. Here’s what Raquel has to say:
“When someone walks into your kitchen, the last item they are likely to compliment is your knife holder. It’s a standard kitchen essential with no design or beautiful display properties. Try painting yours to dress up your space and make things interesting. The possibilities are endless!”
DIY PAINTED KNIFE HOLDER
—Your knife holder
—Craft paint (your choice of colors)
—Stencils (try buying brand new so you can apply pieces)
—*Mod Podge if you use the stencil technique
1. Pick a color and start painting! This knife holder has a white base (remove all knives before you start painting) and needed two coats of paint.
2. Then stencil the piece. Sometimes stencils do not give you a perfect design unless you tape them tightly and you often have to pencil them in and then paint to achieve a polished finish. These stencils were purchased from Darby Smart – I painted the brand new stencil pieces black, allowed them to dry, popped them out, and glued them with Mod Podge.
This is such a simple DIY and now even a knife holder looks chic!
