If you ask us, there are few things more mouthwatering on a hot summer day than a pitcher of homemade lemonade. Striped straws, crushed ice, and all, let’s face it, lemonade is a tough act to follow! Our favorite thing about this easy-to-make beverage is that there’s always a new variation on the classic recipe just waiting to be tried. We’re especially pumped to give Caroline Souza’s, blogger at Sweet Caroline’s Corner, watermelon lemonade a go. And who knows, maybe we’ll even set up a lemonade stand for old times sake! Here’s what Caroline has to say:
“There’s one thing that I see a lot of during the summertime: kids with lemonade stands around the neighborhood. I believe it’s such a classic summer memory and I would like to introduce you to my version of my favorite lemonade: watermelon lemonade. It’s a perfect combination between sweet and tartiness. And if you’re feeling up to it, go ahead and make a little stand around the neighborhood and share it with everyone!”
– 4 cups watermelon cut into cubes
– Juice from 6 lemons
– 4 cups cold water
– Sugar to taste
– Ice cubes
In a blender, place in the watermelon cubes and puree until smooth (to make it easier, do it in batches). Next, strain through a sieve. In a large pitcher, pour the watermelon puree, lemon juice, cold water, and sugar until it satisfies your taste buds. Mix to combine. Serve in a glass with ice cubes and garnish with lemon or watermelon slices. Enjoy!
