Mom, Mother, Mommy, Mama, Mum- which ever title you choose to use, celebrate mom in a special way this year! With Mother’s Day just around the corner, we are trying to find new and fun ways to celebrate this day in an extra special way! This is such a fabulous day to spend showing love and gratitude for our loved ones and a day set aside just for bonding in the midst of our busy lives. This year for Mother’s Day, we want to celebrate our moms with a tea party! We are so excited to feature Vanessa Shakespeare on her whimsical tea party shoot she put together and we couldn’t be more blown away.

There are so many gorgeous moments captured from this fairytale like tea party! We know that our moms would love the elegant and timeless tea cups, saucers, and tea pot. Each detail is breathtaking from the pearls to the floral arrangements, this tea party is one we could sit at all afternoon with our moms and talk the evening away. The dessert table definitely is a hit in our book with the macarons, cupcakes, and other sweet treats! We couldn’t be more thrilled to be featuring this absolutely gorgeous tea party! Here is Vanessa on her inspiration and style choices behind this one of a kind tea party:

A tea party is a elegant way to celebrate a variety of occasions such as a shower, birthday, or even just for fun! Here are some suggestions for throwing a tea party in style:

You will need a teapot, teacups, saucers, small dishes, cake stands, cutlery, a sugar pot, and a creamer. For a shabby chic style mix and match Chinaware  – don’t worry if the patterns are mismatched. I used an array of Royal Albert dishes from The Cross Decor and Design. You will also need a good pot of tea, of course! Try to provide a selection of teas. I chose Heavenly Cream, Rouge Provence, and of course Earl Grey Classic from Sloane Tea.

When it comes to food select your favorite finger foods. Remember to keep it small and serve individual portions. A traditional afternoon tea comprises a layer of sandwiches, a layer of cakes, and a layer of scones. However, I chose to just serve an assortment of sweets such as cupcakes and macarons from Sweet Bake Shop, cotton candy from Petite Puf, raspberry marshmallows, and cake pops.

Finally decorate the table with flowers, doilies, vintage books, tassels etc. I used pastel colors sticking to the shabby chic theme. A tea party is also a fun reason to get dressed up! Tulle skirts from Beautulleful Inc and jewels from Olive + Piper were the perfect addition to the party.
