Now that we’re back in the full swing of “back-to- school,” I feel like things are just falling into place. All of a sudden, my battery feels totally recharged and I’m ready to put my best foot forward and set everyone up for success.
Charlie used to always love eating breakfast, but over the past year he has stopped being a traditional breakfast-eater…I know, it totally bums me out. I remember when I was young, I would go to school not being hungry, and then suddenly I’d become hungry when lunch was still an hour off. For some reason I never thought to be assertive and tell the teacher how hungry I was, so I could never concentrate on school. Can anyone else relate to this? The clock could not turn 11:30 soon enough! I’ve been thinking about that often enough to realize that even though Charlie is not a breakfast-eater, I need to come up with some sort of plan that will hold him over. ;)
Isn’t it funny how even if you’re not hungry, sweet things can instantly reel you in? Obviously, pancakes or French toast on a daily basis is not the answer, so I’ve been trying just about every smoothie recipe on Pinterest. Okay, that’s an exaggeration, but I have tried enough to adapt and develop a few go-to favorites in our home.
Strawberry Banana just so happens to be Charlie’s favorite smoothie flavor. I’ve tried so many different combinations and measurements, but we always are sure to make it with fairlife ultra- filtered milk because it has half the sugar and 50% more protein than regular milk. Normally I’ll add different fruits or even vegetables into the mix depending on what’s around the house. I have to admit, I just love being able to give him something that I know is packed with protein and will fuel his body for those tests and sight words! ;) Okay, so now that mic is on you! - Makes three 8oz servings
- 1/2 cup fairlife milk
- 3/4 cup strawberry yogurt
- 2 bananas
- 1 cup frozen strawberries
- 1 tablespoon honey
- Blend all ingredients until uniform and smooth.
