No one quite does brunch like our girl Ashley from Let’s Mingle Blog, and today she’s here to show us how to throw the BEST kind of brunch party with a Bagel Bar!

Never one to do anything by halves, Ashley has not only shared with us her delicious recipes (hello jalapeño cream cheese!) she also shows us how to build our very own bagel stands!

Brunch happens to be my very favorite meals, so any excuse I can use to infuse it into my entertaining plans, I will gladly take. Putting together a DIY bagel bar is the perfect way to create a fun and interactive idea that is both cost effective and easy too! Plus, it’s the perfect choice for upcoming spring gatherings and bridal showers!

A DIY bagel bar is also a great option because it requires no cooking skills! If you want to infuse a little of your kitchen know-how, you can customize your cream cheeses with some easy recipes to give them a little pizazz.

The ingredients for your bagel bar are completely customizable based on your preferences, but I like to include toppings for both sweet and savory bagels to offer some variety for guests.

Here’s what I included in my spread:

  • Bagels, different sweet and savory varieties
  • Cucumbers
  • Onions
  • Smoked Salmon
  • Chives
  • Radishes
  • Jalapenos
  • Tomatoes
  • Dried Cranberries
  • Capers
  • Avocado
  • Dill
  • Bananas
  • Blueberries
  • Strawberries
  • Cream Cheese
  • Peanut Butter
  • Nutella
  • Honey

I chose to serve some traditional cream cheese, but I also made a few of my own really easy recipes too!

Jalapeno Cream Cheese:

  • 1 Diced Jalapeno, seeds removed
  • 1 Minced Garlic Clove
  • 1 Tbsp. Mayo
  • 1 8 oz. Pkg. Cream Cheese

Mix all ingredients together and serve in a small bowl with a spreading knife.

Orange-Cranberry Cream Cheese:

  • 1 Tbsp. Orange Zest
  • ½ Cup Chopped Dried Cranberries
  • 1 8 oz. Pkg. Cream Cheese

Mix all ingredients together and serve in a small bowl with a spreading knife.

For the Bagel Stands:

My favorite part of this Bagel Bar is the addition of these DIY bagel stands! They are a cinch to make, take little to no time, and really add a fun touch to your display.

materials11

  • 2×6 flat cedar fence post cap
  • 5/8” pine dowel
  • Food safe spray paint or stain
  • Food safe sealant
  • 5/8” drill bit
  • Hand Saw
  • Wood Glue

instructions11

  1. Begin by drilling a round hole into the center of the fence post cap, drilling ½” deep.
  2. Next, using a hand saw, cut your dowel to the size you prefer, making sure to take into account the amount of the dowel that will be set into the base of the post cap.
  3. Next, using spray paint or stain, paint the base and dowel and allow to dry completely.
  4. Insert a small amount of wood glue into the hole of your post cap base and insert the wooden dowel into the center. Allow to dry completely.
  5. Seal with a sealant spray and allow to dry before use.

These stands are so simple and can be used again and again. They’d also make perfect donut stands too! (I made a few different bagel stands in different heights to add a little dimension to my display).

Take your next brunch gathering to new heights by trying a fun and easy bagel bar!
