How are we already in mid-February? Does anyone else feel like 2017 is just skipping on by? I can understand that not ALL of my friends will have time to come to this blog daily or see every Instagram story or social media post. So, I wanted to think of a place where I could sum up the latest and greatest around here all within a post, and that is when the Monthly Catch-Up Series was born! =) Each month, I will write a blog post summing up all the exciting news we’ve had around here where you can click to it in one centralized location.
The majority of this past month has been spent having MANY strategy meetings focusing on what types of content we will put out and exactly how we will execute 2017’s content. Our 2017 Survey Results gave us the biggest amount of insight on how we would reach this point. 35% of you said “I feel like I know Melissa to an extent, but would love to learn more about Melissa’s personal life – the good and bad!” I am so honored to hear that there is an ask for this as it’s always bothered me that I’ve only skimmed the surface.
Now that our re-brand is in full swing, this is my golden opportunity to put myself out there more than I ever have in all my 7 years of blogging on this space. ;) That has always scared me in the past because I would question every move I made online. Okay, now this is turning into that one Police song. Just kidding guys! But I do have to say, the longer I follow other blogs and brands, the more I realize that simply being yourself is what sets you apart. I’ve already got a bit of a head start on a personal level sharing tidbits of my life just about every day on my Instagram Story. At first it felt really vulnerable, but before I knew it, it was comforting just showing people who I truly was outside of a flat image that you would have seen in the past in your feed! ;)
Other favorite updates for January that you may have missed:
We started an exciting new collaborative series with Randi Smith of Sugar Euphoria! We kicked the series off with this unicorn cake and have SO many more creations that will be coming to you in the very near future. Basically how this collaboration works is that I come up with ideas and we bounce concepts off each other. We narrow down the fine details together from the frosting to the sprinkles, and before you know it, a NEW party cake comes to Best Friends For Frosting. I am especially excited about this because fondant and party cakes are not my zone of genius, but I love to creatively direct!
I finally got around to sharing Claire’s birthday cake frosting recipe an entire 2 months later on my birthday! ;) This frosting recipe has become one of my all-time favorites! It literally has crumbles of funfetti cake folded into frosting!!
Looking for the perfect cookie recipe that won’t loose its shape?! Finally sharing the recipe I shared over on Pottery Barn Kids blog! These eyelash heart cookies were a blast!
And last but not least, if you have not had a chance to peek at our 2017 Survey Results, I would love for you to check it out! I have to admit, I don’t have these opportunities with you often enough. I love getting down to the fine details. I shared the good, bad, and everything in-between! No holding back from me! If you missed sharing your insight, I would still LOVE to hear from you. Simply send us an email here!
Other than that, we’ve just been playing A LOT of catch up. I am so happy to say that our team is ahead of schedule with the content we are bringing to the blog. It’s literally been years since we’ve been this ahead of the game. This is VERY exciting to me as we will FINALLY have time to focus on new launches and more ways to bring BFFF to you in more fun ways!
Thanks so much for reading this! If it wasn’t for you guys, this blog would never be possible. Your support means the world to me. Stay tuned for February’s update coming soon or more sneak peeks behind the scenes on my Instagram story! ;)
