BFFF Team Party At Localis

YOU GUYS!!! Localis has been on the very TOP of my list of dining to try in Sacramento for the longest time. Andy and I have been meaning to come out for a date night, but I feel like something ALWAYS got in our way. We usually only have time for 3-5 date nights a year, and I can’t even remember when the last one was! Crazy, right?! Earlier this year Team BFFF had Cake for Breakfast at Rick’s Dessert Diner, Lunch at The Waterboy, and I couldn’t be more excited to kick off dinner at Localis! When our Operations Director, Alexandria, was planning out our calendar for 2017 places to try in Sacramento, I told her to highlight Localis as our #1 place to go next! We ended up having such a fabulous team party here. I can’t wait to take you guys on a taste tour of this AMAZING place!

Before I dive in further on the exact menu that Chef and Owner Chris Barnum made especially for us, I have to tell you what really sets Localis apart from other restaurants I’ve dined at around town – or other cities for that matter. Chef Chris curates the ingredients for each item as if it were a work of art. You’ll see what I am talking about as you read further! ;) He’s the real deal, guys!

Hold on to your chairs!! This dish is simply called Carrots, and it’s hands down one of our FAVORITE dishes off the menu. Some of the ingredients include pureed carrots and brown butter powder! Remember how I always mention which dinner item I would submit to Bon Appetit Magazine to get the recipe and share it with the world?! THIS is the one recipe I would request. Though everything was SO good, there is always one dish that sticks with you that people can’t stop talking about. Every single person on our team voted this dish as being their #1 favorite! I honestly can’t stop thinking about it or talking about it!

For those who missed it, our Editor Molly flew in from Washington and completely surprised me! We met off Twitter 6 years ago and have worked together ever since. We were all over the moon she could join us for dinner!

Can anyone guess what this is?! Fried Potatoes With Quail Egg and a Preserved Duck Egg Yolk Shred! SO GOOD!

So I have to admit, we were TOTALLY spoiled! Chef Chris gave our team an entire run down on each course as it was served. We learned straight from the source how each dish was prepared and the ingredients it included. An unforgettable experience!

Our main dish was this Lamb Roulade, and I have to say that it was REALLY hard for me to decide between this dish and Carrots on which was my favorite. I have only had lamb three times in my entire life. I’ve always thought lamb was “okay,” but after trying Chef Chris’ Lamb Roulade, I can’t stop thinking about it! I am planning on going back in the coming weeks to grab this dish again. Fingers crossed they have it! It’s so good! Trust me on this. WOW! WOW! WOW!!!

Sephora sent out some goodies for our team party! I am obsessed with these makeup bags! We even gave one to Chef for his wife! ;)

You know me and dessert!! I can’t even begin to tell you how excited I was about this! So thrilled we got to try SO MANY!!

Chef Chris even brought us a house-made palate cleanser sorbet, which was so incredibly fragrant and delicious.

ALL the desserts were so incredible that it’s really hard to pick a fave! If I had to narrow it down to 1, I would pick this Golden Beet Cheesecake with Fennel Sorbet, Candied Almonds, Lemon Tuile, and Brown Butter Powder! It’s literally bursting with flavors!

If you live in Sacramento and are looking to impress your friends, Localis is THAT place! ;)  Seriously cannot wait to go back again!

      That restaurant looks awesome! Beautiful food. What would you say is in the roasted carrots salad? What kind of dressing? It looks like feta cheese sprinkled on the sides, but I saw they use whey for different things, too.

        It was seriously amazing!!! This dish consists of pureed, pickled, grilled, and raw carrots, along with sous vide, gel, frons, caraway, and pulp tuile, walnut soil, egg yolk, and brown butter truffle powder!
