31 Totally Random Things About Me!

I feel like I get so caught up in the grind of sharing styled photoshoots, so you don’t always get a true-blue glimpse into my life. It’s not always easy to really get to know me if you don’t follow my Instagram stories! ;) I have been meaning to write a blog post for the longest time about the random things that make me ME! I never want to portray that my real life or every moment of every day is perfect, because it’s totally not!

  1. I love avocados, but I am actually mildly allergic to them. My ears and throat itch after I eat them every time…but that doesn’t stop me! ;)
  2.

  3. I was born and raised in the same city – Sacramento! And I’ve lived here my whole life! I never ended up spreading my wings to fly out of here.
  4.

  5. I met my husband on Myspace.com. No joke! This was circa 2005!
  6.

  7. I am related to Mitt Romney. So random!! His great great grandma and my great great grandma were sisters! I can oddly see similarities in photos.
  8.

  9. My aunt Jo Ann released a recipe book that was a best-seller. She also used to make appearances in newspapers and on the news! I also have the same middle name as her, so I have a feeling I must be taking after her! ;)
  10.

  11. I never had a real boyfriend before my husband. Sure, I dated, but I was never in a serious relationship. When I met my husband, I was shocked that he thought I was pretty.
  12.

  13. My parents have been married for 43 years.
  14.

  15. I am the youngest child and ONLY girl – Yes, I was very spoiled and totally have the “youngest child syndrome”. LOL! I have 2 older brothers.
  16.

  17. When I was in 5th grade, I started my own Hanson Magazine. I was over the top. I created this magazine on my parent’s copy machine and charged my friends and cousins’ friends $1 per month for a subscription. In the magazine, I would share recipes for Isaac Hanson’s favorite Peanut Butter Cookies, gossip, and so much more! I have a strong feeling this blog has A LOT to do with that! ;)
  18.

  19. My grandfather was a well-known boxer in Sacramento! He also ran for Mayor.
  20.

  21. I listen to mostly Country, Rock, and some Pop. My favorite Rock is 60s!
  22.

  23. I love everything from the 90s!
  24.

  25. I am mainly Italian and Swiss! I am also German and Irish.  ;)
  26.

  27. I have a best friend who I’ve been friends with since Kindergarten. We still hang out every month to this day!
  28.

  29. My best friend since Kindergarten married my brother’s best friend since second grade. Doesn’t that sound like it’s straight out of a movie?
  30.

  31. When my pants get too tight, I pop the top button whenever I drive or sit on my laptop because I refuse to buy new pants! ;)
  32.

  33. In real life, I am not as “tidy” as the pictures on this blog. I love clean spaces, but it’s not 130% realistic for me. Right now, I am figuring out the balance part. When we move to our new house, I hope for more minimalism…and organization!
  34.

  35. I worked at 3 different bakeries with plans to open my own! I ended up realizing I was more in love with the branding portion and visual side of what things look like in the bakery case versus the other side. This blog became a rebound outlet once I broke up with the bakery idea! We’re 7 years going strong!
  36.

  37. I am very perky in real life. I talk loud and bubbly, and I like to describe myself as being down to earth.
  38.

  39. I LOVE people! I’ve always had this rare connection with everyone. When I meet many people, it feels like I’ve known them my whole life!
  40.

  41. I have 2 kids and LOVE the idea of having a third but not 110% just yet. If we decide to go for a third, it will be towards the end of 2018 or 2019!
  42.

  43. I used to have an iPhone addiction, but broke the habit in 2015! I used my iPhone as an outlet to space out and was on it way too much! I now value time being unplugged and present. I don’t know how I used to be on my iPhone so much! LOL. Thank goodness I was on my parent’s phone plan at the time.
  44.

  45. I am a total morning person! Wake me up at 5 AM, and I’ll be perky as heck – true story! I’ll never forget the time Andy took my friend Denay (who is also a morning person) and I to the airport at 5 AM, and we were talking a mile a minute during the car ride there. Poor Andy! Just kidding! ;)
  46.

  47. My mom is one of my best friends! Yes, I’ve totally cut the apron strings! ;) My mom is my favorite person to shop with or have girl time with. She knows everything about me and has such a big heart of gold!
  48.

  49. During my childhood, I watched my parents grow a 7-figure company from the ground up without a college degree. I worked in their office from a young age and learned so much about entrepreneurship right in front of my brown eyes! ;)
  50.

  51. I flew on a plane for the first time in 15 years to speak at a conference with Martha Stewart. At first I said no because I didn’t think I could get myself on an airplane, but I worked really hard on mustering up the courage to do it, and I was fine! =) After that, I decided to desensitize myself to the whole fear of flying, so I’ve flown multiple times since then. It’s still not easy like a Sunday morning, but it’s a start! ;)
  52.

  53. I alternate my Starbucks drink between a White Mocha or a Caramel Frapp with extra caramel! I have to admit, I am looking for a new drink because I am ready for a change. I used to get soy chais all the time too!
  54.

  55. I love being a mom! I always knew I wanted to have children at a very young age. I feel so blessed to be able to have 2 children!
  56.

  57. When I was in 6th grade, I sang “It’s My Party” in the school talent show. I cringe whenever I hear that song now.
  58.

  59. I give really big tight bear hugs in real life. I am NOT a fan of awkward “side-hugs”  ;)
  60.

  61. I feel nervous because there are so many more things about me that aren’t coming to my mind yet. Now I am thinking we should have a series on this every so often. That way I can keep sharing my personality with you more because no one wants to read a stranger’s blog! ;)
  62.

If you made it to #31, I cannot thank you enough for hanging out with me these past 5 minutes! I feel so lucky to be in this online space where I can connect with so many of you on a more personal level.

I sang “Johnny Angel” in a poodle skirt in my 5th grade talent show. My mom made me, it was super embarrassing 😂
