Apple Filling:

  • 6 large Pazzaz apples, cored, peeled and sliced
  • 2 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce

  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup old-fashioned oats
  • 8 tablespoons unsalted butter, cubed
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • Vanilla ice cream
  • Caramel sauce for drizzling

  1. Topping: Mix brown sugar, cinnamon, flour, and salt in a food processor until uniform. Add in butter and pulse until evenly distributed throughout, then add oats and mix until combined.
  2. Pazzaz Apple Filling: Preheat oven to 350ºF. In a large pan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add brown sugar, flour, lemon juice, cinnamon, apple slices and salt, stir to combine. Cook the apples for 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally until apples begin to soften. Remove from heat and stir in 1/2 cup caramel sauce. Pour the apple filling into 9″ pie dish and spread evenly. Apply topping over the apples and bake for 35-40 minutes until the topping is golden brown. Cool for 30 minutes before serving. Top each serving with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and drizzle with caramel.

Tip: Put foil or a baking sheet under apple crisp when baking to avoid a mess in the oven.
