Recently, we had fun choosing a recipe from the Certified Angus Beef® Brand website, and adding a bit of a twist to make it our own. We chose to play around with the Certified Angus Beef® Brand recipe for Classic Red Wine Steak Sauce. The typical way to prepare this dish is to roast the meat, and prepare the wine reduction as it cooks. The reduction works to thicken the wine, creating a luscious sauce for your dinner.
We decided to take a unique spin on this recipe by adding a bit more flavor. We added onion, garlic, cloves, peppercorn, honey, butter, and parsley to our reduction for an incredible addition of flavor to the wine. And it was so simple!
We couldn’t be more excited about the ease of preparation of this dish, and the incredible flavor it produced. The simple sauce is just a matter of combining ingredients, stirring, and watching the time as it thickens.
This classic red wine sauce is savory, but adding a bit of honey and cloves balances it well with a slightly sweet flavor. It’s a simple, but complete twist on the Red Wine Steak Sauce recipe, and goes so well with a nice juicy steak and a side of fresh, seasonal asparagus.

CLASSIC RED WINE STEAK SAUCE WITH A TWIST
–1 tablespoons finely diced onion
–2 teaspoons minced garlic
–2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
–1/2 cup red wine
–1/4 teaspoon whole cloves
–1/4 teaspoon black peppercorns
–1 tablespoon Honey
–2 tablespoons butter, chopped and kept cold
–2 tablespoons chopped parsley
–Salt and pepper to taste
Simmer onion and garlic in saucepan until soft.
Whisk in wine, mustard, and honey, then reduce by 2/3 over medium heat.
Slowly whisk in butter, add peppercorns, and cloves, and remove from heat.
Add parsley and season to taste.
Serve with your favorite Certified Angus Beef® brand cut.
