DIY Easter Egg Banner

As the weather is changing fast, I’ve been soo looking forward to more flowers, more pastels, and more SUN! Lately, we’ve been in full Easter prep mode around here with our pineapple Easter eggs and polka dot eggs, so I thought it was the perfect time to share this DIY Marbled Easter Egg Banner!

I LOVE decorating for Easter – I mean, the color palette of Easter is basically pinks and pastels…which makes me SO happy! ;) I feel like this is our BFFF holiday over here. ;) I must admit, I’ve been really enjoying sneaking in a hint of gold into my (mostly pink) projects recently.

Ever since the DIY banners that we did last month for Valentine’s Day received so much positive feedback, I’ve been brainstorming other simple and fun banner ideas! When I saw this marbled shaving cream technique, I just HAD to incorporate something with it. I have to tell you, banners are SO unbelievably easy and inexpensive to make and they’re such a quick way to add some themed décor to your home! They can be used for so many things, whether you’re throwing a party, celebrating a holiday, or you just want to make your home a little more colorful – don’t we all?!

So the cool thing is that banners can usually be done with materials that you can find around your house, and this one is no exception! Seriously, I snuck into Andy’s shaving cream (shhh),  gathered up some colored paper in all the shades of pink I could find, craft some marbled eggs, and you’re on your way to an egg-citing new Easter banner! Extra perk – It even gives you an excuse to use corny Easter egg puns like that! ;)

How To Make A DIY Marbled Easter Egg Banner

  • Foam shaving cream
  • Food coloring (gel or liquid)
  • Baking dish
  • Fishing line
  • Hot glue gun
  • Gold highlighter
  • White card stock
  • Egg shaped template
  • Ruler
  • Toothpick
  • Paper towels

  1. Trace and cut out your egg shape using your white card stock.
  2. Spray a thick layer of shaving cream into a baking dish and add a few drops of food coloring.
  3. Use your toothpick to swirl in your color. Once you swirl your base color you can add additional colors (optional). Continue to swirl with your toothpick until you get a mixed pattern or marble effect. Make sure to not over mix.
  4. Place your paper egg into your shaving cream. Use your finger to lightly press down onto your paper so that as much of it makes contact with the shaving cream as possible. Let the egg sit for about a minute in the shaving cream mixture.
  5. Gently use your fingers to lift the paper egg from the shaving cream. Place it on top of a paper towel.
  6. Next, use your ruler to scrape the shaving cream off in one sweeping motion from one side of the egg to the next.
  7. Take a paper towel and wipe off any excess shaving cream and set aside to dry. Repeat steps 4 -7 until you have 6-10 marbled eggs.
  8. Using a hot glue gun, glue your eggs to your fishing line to complete your marbled egg banner.

  1. This is so cute and way easy. I would normally just buy something for decorations, but I might have my oldest help me do this.
