How To Paint Clean Lines

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of FrogTape®. All opinions are 100% mine.

We have been hard at work over here with TONS of home improvement projects. When Andy and I purchased our Mid Century Modern Home, we knew we would be in for a lot of home projects! Luckily, I’ve discovered some amazing tips and tricks along the way that I am so excited to share with you guys!

One of my favorite projects so far was redecorating the BFFF office this year. It’s basically a Pinterest-Worthy Office with Gingham Wallpaper. The whole feeling of the space is very chic and modern. The one lingering thing that was holding the office back from being my ideal stylish workspace, was the wood baseboards. The original baseboards in the room were a drab and natural brown wood color that didn’t match the look and feel of the bright and cheery space. I knew that I needed to take the final step and paint them white to complete the look of the room. White baseboards are a better match for the pink gingham wallpaper, and definitely fit with the overall style of the room.

When deciding to paint the baseboards, the rest of the office design was already complete.  I was nervous about messing up the paint and ruining the wallpaper or flooring, so I was so excited to discover  FrogTape® painters tape when prepping for this project. All FrogTape® brand painter’s tapes are treated with patented PaintBlock® Technology, a super-absorbent polymer that reacts with the water in latex paint and instantly gels to form a micro-barrier that seals the edges of the tape, preventing paint bleed and the need for touch-ups. The results are crisp, clean paint lines the first time.

I prepped the baseboards for paint by lining the edges with FrogTape. The great thing about FrogTape is that it is the only painting tape treated with patented PaintBlock® Technology. This guarantees that the paint will not bleed under the tape as PaintBlock® reacts with the water in latex paint and instantly gels to form a barrier against paint bleed giving you the sharpest paint lines possible.  It was so great to not have to worry about paint bleed with this project! The office has the original hardwood floors in our home, so it was super important to protect them.

Okay, full disclosure- I usually leave the house painting projects to Andy. But since this project was in my office, I really wanted to tackle it myself. It turned out to be a total piece of cake! First I lined the top and bottoms of all the baseboards with FrogTape to ensure perfectly straight paint lines, and that the paint did not bleed onto the floor. I also covered the floors with a dropcloth to be extra careful! Once I prepped the baseboards by lining them with FrogTape, I selected the perfect shade of white paint and carefully painted my baseboards. The paint dried overnight and the next day we were ready to remove the tape and put the room back together!

The best part of this was that the tape was as easy to remove as it was to apply! The tape came off cleanly and easily, with zero messes or damage to the new paint. The painted baseboards came out looking amazing- bright and white with super sharp, crisp paint lines. These white baseboards were exactly the right touch that my office needed to complete the cheerful, feminine look I was going for! This project initially sounded like it was going to be a huge undertaking, but using FrogTape made it a breeze. I am definitely adding this tape to our toolboxes for the future! It has totally become a go to for all future home improvement projects!

Painting the baseboards white was definitely the final touch that my office needed. The white baseboards blend so well with the wallpaper and really complete the look of the room.
