Summer and margaritas totally go hand in hand! Nothing complements a warm, sunshiny day better than a cold, refreshing cocktail and if we’re choosing, it’s going to be one of our seasonal favorites: the margarita. Joining us again with another one of her fabulous recipes is our contributor, Jessica Potts from A Happy Food Dance. We love her fruity twist on this classic drink and can’t wait to try it out!
“This delectable drink reminds me of the smell of ocean air, the feeling of sand between your toes, and that blissful happiness that summertime brings. These margaritas have the ultimate summer twist – combining fragrant cantaloupe melon with sweet, vibrant kiwis. Add in fresh lime juice and some good tequila and you are on your way to paradise.
These slushy little treats have a pop of tart kiwi and that mouthwatering juiciness of perfectly ripe cantaloupe. Plus you can use the same fresh fruit to garnish your drink which makes it extra fun and beautiful.
Below is a recipe for a single margarita (no shame in that!) but this recipe can easily be multiplied so that you can serve a big pitcher to your girlfriends!”

makes: 1 margarita (can be multiplied for larger batches)
prep time: 5 minutes
¼ cup chopped cantaloupe
½ of a peeled kiwi
3 ounces tequila
1 ounce simple syrup
3 ounces fresh lime juice
sugar, for rim
lime wheels, cantaloupe slices, kiwi wheels – for garnish
1. In a blender, combine cantaloupe, kiwi, tequila, simple syrup and fresh lime juice. Add 3-4 ice cubes and blend. Depending on desired consistency, add additional ice cubes.
2. To serve, rim glass with sugar, pour in margarita, and garnish with a lime wheel, kiwi wheel and cantaloupe slice.

Oh BFFF these just look divine – I shall definitely be taking this recipe with me to France for those long evenings sitting chatting with friends – thanks so much for sharing! I will of course, be participating testing prior to multiplying the quantities up!
