Spring is all about fresh, new ideas. Whether you’re working on redecorating your home, or simply spring cleaning, spring is always a time to start fresh. We always love to develop new recipes during springtime, taking them to the next level with great decoration and presentation!
Kraft recently sent us a great spring basket of products, and we had so much fun developing and decorating a recipe with those items. We developed a smooth and flavorful dessert for spring, using a variety of light ingredients and flavors that blend together perfectly.
We’re right in the middle of peak strawberry season, so using that flavor was a no-brainer. We added heavy cream to our mixer and beat it until peaks began to form. We then combined sweetened condensed milk, mascarpone cheese, and vanilla, and added that to the whipped heavy cream. Strawberry Instant JELL-O powder was then added to the mix to add the perfect springtime flavor base.
We served the strawberry mascarpone mixture over top melted chocolate and crushed shortbread, and then topped the dessert off with Cool Whip Whipped Topping. We garnished these desserts with pistachios, JELL-O powder, nutmeg, and a mint leaf for the perfect finish.
We had so much fun layering and putting these refreshing desserts together in martini glasses. It offered such a unique way to serve this treat, rather than just serving it in a plain, boring bowl. Layering the ingredients in the martini glass allows guests to see the multiple aspects of the dessert come together, and the Cool Whip Whipped Topping and garnishes bring the dessert to a new level. It’s simple, yet elegant, and can be served at any event this spring.
FANCY CHOCOLATE STRAWBERRY LAYERED DESSERT RECIPE
—1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
—1 cup mascarpone cheese
—1/2 teaspoon vanilla
—1/2 pint heavy cream
—12 shortbread rounds (crumbled)
—3 tablespoons strawberry JELL-O powder
— 8 oz Bakers semi sweet chocolate bar
—2 cups Cool Whip
—Nutmeg, mint leaf and jello powder for garnish
- In a bowl, stir together sweetened condensed milk, mascarpone cheese, and vanilla. In another bowl, beat heavy cream to peaks, then add mascarpone mixture. Then add strawberry JELL-O powder to mixture.
- Melt Bakers chocolate and add to the bottom of each serving cup. Layer crumbled shortbread cookies, and then add marscarpone mixture. Layer with additional crumbled shortbread and additional marscapone mixture. Top with Cool Whip.
- Garnish with crumbled pistachios, JELL-O powder, nutmeg, and mint leaf.
