Leila Lewis started her first PR business almost a decade ago, and these days, big names such as E! Entertainment and The Huffington Post are singing her praise. But where did it all begin?

What is your favorite part about working in the PR Industry?

I love helping my clients achieve their dreams and pushing their company in the right direction. It is always so exciting when you land a client an amazing interview or magazine spread, and I enjoy being a part of their growth and success.

Can you explain the mission for Be Inspired PR?

Our mission is to help our clients become the very best in their market. We promote our clients by placing them in magazine editorial features, television shows, and interviews.

How has Be Inspired PR expanded since you launched your business?

I started my business at the end of 2007 in the second bedroom of my apartment. Present day we have an ocean front office space with 12 team members. We have expanded our PR firm to also represent lifestyle, fitness, fashion, and other types of brands! Our company’s main focus remains on weddings, but it is amazing to have such a wide span of clients!

How would you define success?

One important thing to remember is the distinction between fame and success. Success for me is deeper than the surface level that fame offers you. With social media so prevalent in our every day lives, it is sometimes hard to remember what you truly value. For me a healthy lifestyle inclusive of work, family, and happy team members, in conjunction with continued growth, feels right to me. I define success as accomplishing what’s meaningful to you- whatever it is.


What is your favorite quote or words of wisdom?

My mantra right now is “if you want something you’ve never had, you have to do something you’ve never done!” It is so easy to get caught up in a routine- but when you never break from it you can get stuck! AND “people can inspire you or drain you- choose wisely” because life moves way too fast and is to precious to be wasted on people or projects that don’t bring you joy.

When hiring employees, what is the number one attribute you look for?

When hiring, I look for why they are valuable to Be Inspired PR. We are always looking for inventive, creative individuals who are going to put in the work . Above all though, honestly and loyalty are paramount to joining my team.

How has social media impacted Be Inspired PR?

Social Media has had a huge impact on Be Inspired PR. Twitter was how I was first known as Wedding PR. It became my brand and message to the industry and the world as I connected with people all over the world and booked business. I’ve continued to use that brand and voice with Instagram which brings clients and partners that we may have never been in contact with before. Social media done right is a cornerstone to Be Inspired PR’s continued growth and success.


What advice would you give someone interested in a career in PR?

The best advice I could give is: you will get what you put into it. If you want a quick fix, copying other people and cutting corners I promise you wont build a foundation for anything real or lasting. This industry is hard. There are highs and lows, and how you handle each of them will build character and show people who you really are. Above all be good to others.

Tell us what 3 things you cannot live without:

1) My kids 2) Good health 3) iPhone …ok ok, I could live without it but it would be easier if I didn’t have to.

How does Be Inspired PR differ from other PR firms in Los Angeles?

Be Inspired PR differs from other PR firms because we are the first EVER to specialize in the wedding industry. We work with companies all over the world!
