Meeting Paula Deen in Sacramento

Yes, it’s true! I was lucky enough to meet Paula Deen last Friday in Sacramento. I got to meet her before the show, and she had actually heard about Best Friends For Frosting through one of the guys I worked with to promote the event. I was starstruck and floored. Sitting next to Paula was her jolly husband, Michael Groover. Pinch me…Was this a dream!? Paula was one of the sweetest and most sincere people I have ever met. She reminded me so much of my dear Grandma Hazel.

Paula took the stage for about two hours with her sweet husband at her side. It was so much fun watching the two reminisce and chat together. Paula talked about some of her recipes-including her Gooey Butter Cake. She confided to us how she met her husband, Michael. Paula beamed with joy as she talked about the recent birth of her grandson Matthew AKA Moose. She gushed about her slumber party with Oprah & Gayle last summer for the taping of Oprah’s Next Chapter on OWN. Paula also said that her son Bobby Deen is dating Mike & Molly television star, Katy Mixon. Paula says she hopes Bobby marries Katy!

Even though Paula is a celebrity, she claims that she still doesn’t feel like she is “famous” and she will always just be the “Bag Lady.” By the time the show ended, I felt like Paula was my own BFF! It was certainly an experience I will always hold dear to my heart.
