Having a successful brand largely relies on how you represent yourself and your business. Having the right print collateral can make a huge difference on how others see you! Potential clients are more likely to want to work with you if your business cards and stationery look professional yet fun. Laura Kashner of Laura Kathryn Creative is sharing her top 6 must-have print collateral for your brand. We are so excited to have her on BFFF today! Her advice is spot-on and will definitely give you a different perspective on your personalized stationery and business cards. Check out what Laura has to say about print collateral affecting your brand below:

Whether you own a product or service-based business, having a clear and cohesive client experience is crucial to building and sustaining your brand. When a client experiences your brand, they are taken on a journey. Your goal? For every avenue of that journey to align with your brand aesthetic and mission, while making the experience enjoyable and efficient for your customer. As a graphic designer, designing print collateral is one of my favorite things to do for my clients. Expanding their brand into tangible takeaways, surprises and well, eye candy, is so fun! More importantly, it’s a way to connect with their customer again and again and again. Once you have a solid visual identity (logo, color palette, typography, pattern), you have all of the tools you need to expand that brand into printed pieces for your business.

Here are six of my must-have print pieces for shop or business owners:

1. Business cards

There are so many ways to make a statement with your business cards. From letterpress and double thick cards to edge painting and multiple backs – this is your chance to make an incredible first impression. Make sure your logo, name, business name, website, phone number and email address are displayed. If you have a brick and mortar or studio space, include your address. Always keep a few cards in your purse, car, or camera bag so you’re prepared to leave one if a conversation strikes up while you’re out and about!

2. Personalized Stationery

You’ll need a set of personalized stationery with your name, logo, or both. Use these for thank you notes, or just to say ‘Hello!’ I like using the phrase “from the desk of your name” at the top of my stationery. A monogram or logo badge would look great, too.

3. Letterhead

Place your logo at the top of an 8.5 x 11 document with your contact information at the bottom. Use this letterhead for all important business files (contracts, invoices, etc.) that get passed along to your clients and customers.

4. Gift Card

Gift cards are always great to have on hand, especially around the holidays! Make sure to include a to, from, for (amount) and expiration date.

5. Card with purchase

I always recommend sending along a small insert with your products/deliverables. Get creative with this! It could give a little more information about you and your business, how your products are made, or a pretty inspirational quote to hang above their desk. Let this be an extension of your brand and mission.

6. Packaging

This is the where the party’s at! What kind of experience do you want your customer/client to have when they receive and open your product? Ribbons, stickers, packaging labels, gift tags, special mailers – this is your opportunity to carry your brand aesthetic into all of the little details.

My favorite places to print / buy supplies & gifts:

Letterpress Printers:

Online Printers:

  • Paper Source (for envelopes/liners)
  • Etsy (for ribbons, washi tape, gift tags)
  • Uline (for mailing supplies)
