Patriotic Sparkler Cake Pops

4th-july-cake-pops

If you’re hunting for an easy and festive dessert to make for this 4th of July, then look no further than these Patriotic Sparkler Cake Pops. These simple, shining pops are incredibly easy to make, and rest assured, these do not require a cake pop maker. Bakerella made her first cake pops this way, combining cake and icing to make a moist truffle.  You can prepare these glittery pops easily with icing, cake, and a bit of work with your hands.

Recently, Sprinkles and Grins sent me a box of their products, including their new line of Glitter Icings. Immediately, upon receiving the box, I envisioned creating a cake pop that would not require the use of a cake pop maker or the common candy coating. These easy-to-make cake pops turned out perfectly without the candy coating, featuring the glitter icings to make them shine. The red and blue glitter icings colored the cake crumbs, leaving a gorgeous, glittery tone reminiscent of sparklers on the 4th of July.

I am so excited to tell you about an upcoming project we have planned with Sprinkles and Grins. Stay tuned this week as we will be posting more desserts we created by using their products as well as a few more hints.  In the mean time, you can check out the recipe & instructions posted on their website.

  • 1 cup of Cake Mate Red Glitter Icing

  • 1 cup of Cake Mate Blue Glitter Icing

  • Straws or cake pop sticks

  • Cake Mate Star Sprinkles (optional)

Directions:

  • Once the Betty Crocker cake has cooled, cut it in half, adding the pieces to 2 separate bowls.

  • Using your hands, begin to crumble each cake half into the bowl.

  • Add 1 cup of glitter red icing to one bowl +  Add 1 cup of glitter blue icing to the other bowl.

  • Using your hands, mix the cake and icing together until it is fully combined into a smooth, moist consistency.   The glitter icings will color the cake and make each cake pop shine.

  • Take a small section of the mixture, and roll it into a smooth ball.

  • Carefully insert a cake pop stick or straw into each cake pop.

  • Use star sprinkles to decorate each cake pop.  They will easily stick into the cake.

  1. OhMyWord!!! Adorable and easy… What more could a girl ask for!!!?? I do have one question though, do these dry out quickly, or handle outside temperatures? I would LOVE to do these for a BBQ but wonder about their sturdiness? (I guess that was more than one question) ;)
