Ingredients
Apple Filling:
6large Pazzaz applescored, peeled and sliced
2tablespoonunsalted butter
1tablespoonfresh lemon juice
1/3cupbrown sugar
2tablespoonsall-purpose flour
1/2teaspooncinnamon
1/8teaspoonsalt
1/2cupcaramel sauce
Topping:
1/2cupall-purpose flour
1/2cupbrown sugar
1/2cupold-fashioned oats
8tablespoonsunsalted buttercubed
1/2teaspooncinnamon
1/8teaspoonsalt
Vanilla ice cream
Caramel sauce for drizzling
Instructions
Topping: Mix brown sugar, cinnamon, flour, and salt in a food processor until uniform. Add in butter and pulse until evenly distributed throughout, then add oats and mix until combined.
Pazzaz Apple Filling: Preheat oven to 350ºF. In a large pan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add brown sugar, flour, lemon juice, cinnamon, apple slices and salt, stir to combine. Cook the apples for 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally until apples begin to soften. Remove from heat and stir in 1/2 cup caramel sauce. Pour the apple filling into 9" pie dish and spread evenly. Apply topping over the apples and bake for 35-40 minutes until the topping is golden brown. Cool for 30 minutes before serving. Top each serving with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and drizzle with caramel.
Tip: Put foil or a baking sheet under apple crisp when baking to avoid a mess in the oven.
