I absolutely LOVE the holidays. I am that girl who has watched every Hallmark movie, I (patiently) wait until Peppermint White Mochas come out, I turn on Christmas music in November, and I buy egg nog in October. ;) I sort of drag out the holidays as long as I can get away with it. There is just something about the holidays that is so special, filled with nostalgia, and magical – all rolled into one! Simply put, it’s the absolute best time of the year!

Some of you may remember whenย I worked with Pottery Barn Kids on Claire’s Nursery!! It was an absolute dream, as they are one of my favorite brands in the whole wide world. So, I’m sure you could only imagine my excitement when they contacted me for round 2. ;) ย  It’s times like these that make me realize why I truly fell in-love with styling parties at a young age!!! I had soย much fun decking out one of my favorite traditional bashes with their new holiday line!

One of my most favorite traditions is turning on the Christmas music and decorating holiday cookies with the little ones! They get SO excited! If you have not started this tradition, it’s time to put this one on your calendar STAT! It’s the best.

Last week, I had my nieces Paisley and June and nephew Toby over to decorate cookies with Charlie and Claire. To simplify the process, Charlie and I baked the cookies in the morning and prepped all the frostings in advance. You can imagine how a house with 5 kids can be, things get messy quick! We have to pick our battles, right?! Charlie and I set up a table filled with piping bags, sprinkles, and shaped cookies for the kids to go wild with! By the time the kids arrived, the house still smelled like sugar cookies. It was so strong, I was afraid Santa was going to smell it all the way from the North Pole and come knocking on my door early (just kidding!). ;) ย Psst. Need the perfect sugar cookie or frosting recipe? Grab my recipe over on Pottery Barn Kidsโ€™ blog!

And while we’re on the subject of cookies, do you know what’s really interesting? Your sense of smell is one of your strongest senses…taste follows right behind! I love baking memories together with the little ones that will (hopefully) last a lifetime. I pretty much want them to associate me with cookies and all things sweet! ;)

Speaking of holiday traditions (we have so many), another one of my favorite traditions is grabbing hot chocolate and driving around while listening to Christmas music and looking at the decorated houses. We have several elaborate neighborhoods in Sacramento that go all out. And because we live in California, we’ll even jump out of our cars with our decorated cookies and hot chocolate and walk around the neighborhoods to get the full experience! Did I mention I love Christmas?! What are your holiday traditions?
