What is Million Dollar Spaghetti?

Now, you might be wondering, what is Million Dollar Spaghetti? Well, let me break it down for you. It’s a delicious baked casserole dish that layers spaghetti, ricotta cheese, cooked ground sausage, and a generous amount of mozzarella cheese. It’s like lasagna’s more affordable cousin, but in so many ways, even better!

How to make million dollar spaghetti?

To make this super quick dinner, start by preheating your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Then, add a thin layer of spaghetti sauce to a baking dish. Next, layer on the spaghetti noodles, followed by dollops of creamy ricotta cheese. Repeat this process with another layer of spaghetti noodles, cooked ground sausage, and more spaghetti sauce. Finally, sprinkle a generous amount of mozzarella cheese on top. Pop the dish into the oven and bake for 30 minutes or until the cheese is golden and bubbly.

You can make this dinner ahead of time

One of the best things about Million Dollar Spaghetti is that it can be made ahead of time. Prepare the dish, cover it tightly with foil, and refrigerate until you’re ready to bake it. This makes it the perfect option for busy weeknights or when you have guests coming over. Pop it in the oven, and voila! A delicious, homemade meal that will impress everyone. Ingredients

  • 16 ounce package spaghetti
  • One pound loose Italian sausage
  • Two 24-ounce jars marinara sauce
  • One 32-ounce container ricotta cheese
  • 8 ounces shredded mozzarella cheese
  • chopped fresh parsley, for serving

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Bring a pot of salted water to a boil over high heat. Just think of the ocean-your water should be salty like the sea. Add the spaghetti and cook according to the package directions, until al dente. Drain the spaghetti and set aside.
  • Heat a large skillet over medium high heat. Add the Italian sausage and cook, breaking up the sausage as you cook, until the meat is no longer pink and is golden brown, about 12 minutes. Drain off the excess fat and set aside.
  • Pour a jar of the marinara sauce into a 9×13 baking dish. Add half of the cooked spaghetti and all of the ricotta cheese. Top with the remaining spaghetti, the cooked sausage, the remaining jar of marinara sauce, and the mozzarella cheese on top.
  • Bake uncovered for 35-40 minutes until mozzarella is melted and golden brown.
  • Let cool for 10 minutes before serving. Garnish with parsley.
