Hey girlfriends! Thanksgiving is coming up quick, so it’s time to start gathering those fall recipes. I have SO many Thanksgiving recipes floating around, so it’s hard to choose which ones to cook!! Each year, there are always a few recipes I use for almost every holiday meal. One of those go-to favorite dishes is this sweet potato casserole recipe. Who’s with me? Do you love sweet potatoes as much as I do?! Some of my favorite dishes to cook this season are the Thanksgiving side dishes, and honestly this one is one of my favorites. It is super delicious and an easy addition to any meal this holiday season. Even my kids are asking when they will be getting their sweet casserole again. It makes me so happy!

This casserole recipe is an easy way to kick off the fall season and the Thanksgiving holiday all in one! We love having reasons to celebrate the everyday, and this time of year there is just so much to celebrate!

How to Make Sweet Potato Casserole

This sweet potato casserole is super easy to make! Whenever someone says ‘casserole,’ I always think it includes too many steps and ingredients that it makes the recipe too complicated and long for a busy mom. But seriously, this casserole is not only easy, but super delicious and the perfect addition to any meal this season! It’s ready in just a few steps!

Sweet Potato Casserole Recipe

For this recipe, you will need 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, 2 tablespoons brown sugar, cinnamon, salt, 1/4 cup half and half, 1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice, and 3 29oz cans of sweet potatoes. For the topping you will need 5 tablespoons unsalted softened butter, ¼ cup all purpose flour, 1/8 teaspoon salt, ¼ cup brown sugar, 3 cups mini marshmallows, ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon, and ½ cup chopped pecans.

How to Make a Casserole

First, preheat your oven to 375°F. While the oven is preheating, mash the sweet potatoes and add butter, half and half, cinnamon, brown sugar and salt to the potatoes and mash until smooth. Then, transfer the mashed potatoes to casserole dish and heat the casserole dish with sweet potato mixture until it is warm. While the sweet potato mixture is heating up, you can make the topping! Get a medium bowl and put in the butter, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, salt, and pecans, and stir to combine. Take sweet potatoes out of oven and top the mixture with half the marshmallows, then the streusel, and then more marshmallows. Place the dish back into the oven for 10 minutes, until the marshmallows begin to brown. Make sure you keep an eye on the dish and be careful not to burn the marshmallow! Once the marshmallows are slightly brown, it is ready to be served!

This is my absolutely favorite season, and I love to celebrate every single part of it! From doing fall activities to having family dinners, I love making memories with those around me and celebrating the everyday. Sweet Potato Casserole Recipe

Ingredients

  • 3 29 oz cans sweet potatoes
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup half and half
  • 1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • 2 tablespoons brown
  • sugar and salt to taste
  • Topping
  • 5 tablespoons unsalted butter softened
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup all purpose flour optional
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans
  • 3 cups mini marshmallow

Instructions

  • 1. Preheat oven to 375°F.
  • 2. Mash sweet potatoes. Add butter, milk, cinnamon, brown sugar and salt to the potatoes and mash until smooth.
  • 3. Transfer the mashed potatoes to casserole dish. Heat casserole dish with sweet potato mixture until warm.
