Best Vanilla Cake & Frosting Recipe

Is there anything more deliciously simple than a vanilla cake with vanilla frosting? I fully admit to being a chocoholic somedays and love experimenting with different flavors and recipes, but sometimes nothing beats pure vanilla cake and frosting perfection! This vanilla cake recipe with vanilla frosting is so amazingly elegant and not to mention super tasty! :) It is one of my favorite dessert recipes and fits perfectly for any party or event theme. I guarantee this vanilla cake recipe with vanilla frosting is something you’ll be dying to make over and over again! :)

Amazing Dessert Recipes

This recipe actually comes courtesy of my dear friend Ashley with Peace Love & Eat Cakes. I jump at any chance I have to work with Ashley because she is so incredibly talented and creative! Plus having a master baker as a friend is NEVER a bad idea ;) A few months back, I asked for her help with this Valentine’s Day party I threw just for the kids. I was dying for Ashley’s input because she has a knack for always coming up with the best dessert recipes. The party was a bit last minute too, so I had barely given any thought to the type of desserts I wanted. As soon I told Ashley the theme though, she was already thinking up dessert recipes!!

The Perfect Vanilla Cake Recipe

Every dessert at the party was so, so amazing, but this vanilla cake was such a show-stopper! I love serving vanilla desserts at parties because they’re always a huge crowd pleaser. I mean, who doesn’t love a classic vanilla bean flavor? The best part of this recipe is how easy it is! It only takes about 20 minutes to bake this vanilla cake, making it totally perfect for parties. It’s also so unbelievably light and fluffy that only having one piece is basically impossible! ;)

The Easiest Recipe for Vanilla Frosting

When it comes to frosting recipes, I am an absolute sucker for a classic buttercream frosting. I definitely don’t discriminate when it comes to my love of frosting, but for me nothing beats a classic buttercream frosting! Just when I thought I couldn’t love buttercream frosting any more, I tasted this recipe for vanilla frosting. When you make this recipe, I totally suggest doubling the frosting portions because you will want to eat at least half right out of the bowl! Not that I’m speaking from experience or anything ;) The secret to this recipe is the vanilla extract. In most cases, imitation vanilla will work in a pinch, but the pure vanilla extract gives this buttercream frosting its amazing taste!

Adding a Touch of Pink to the Vanilla Frosting

The real beauty of an elegant vanilla cake with vanilla frosting is how easily it can be decorated. The white on white colors of the vanilla make your cake a total blank canvas! This recipe becomes a complete lifesaver because it can be decorated to match any and all of your events. You can let the vanilla cake speak for itself and serve it as is, or go decoration crazy! I love the idea of adding some simple flowers to the top for a bridal shower or covering the top in sprinkles and candles for a special birthday. For our party, Ashley pulled out all of the stops for the decorations! She created some frosting magic and made the dreamiest, ballerina-pink ombre accent for the cake. It was so subtle, but so amazing. Then she finished it off with the prettiest pink roses on top. It was almost too beautiful to eat….almost ;)

No matter how you choose to decorate this vanilla bean dream, this heavenly dessert recipe is guaranteed to be one of your new go-tos! Everyone definitely needs to have a great recipe for vanilla cake or vanilla frosting at their disposal and these two recipes are perfect! What would be your favorite way to decorate this vanilla cake?

    Thank you again for this!

  2. This recipe was DELICIOUS! Big hit for the family! :) I substituted Half & Half instead of Whole Milk, and the Cake definitely needed to be cooked longer than the 10-12 minutes in the recipe…It was still pretty liquid-ish at that point. I ended up cooking mine for 32 minutes (still at 300 degrees Farenheit), and it turned out great!

  3. No mention of how many pans. Is it 2 or 3 8” pans? I followed directions to the T, used three 8” pans. Took more than 20 min to bake.

  4. Wow ..so delicious… I tried it with some extra fats in the milk and really got the best vanilla cake ever..

I am just wondering if I need to do bigger cake as 2 pans of 10″ instead of the 8″ what is the amount of batter ?and how long in the oven will it needs!

  5. 300 degrees for 10-12 minutes as the recipe indicates would result in SOUP. I questioned oven temp and had to adjust baking time. This recipe would be a disaster for a beginner baker!

  6. My mother and i made this cake recipe and the ? cake was ? yummy thanks for the recipe!!!!!

    Lots of love
