Patriotic Desserts
Can you believe summer is officially here?! Once Memorial Day comes around, we always consider it the official kick-off to summer around here. Hello sunny days, wearing more dresses, eating watermelon on the patio with the kids, and don’t forget, celebrating the 4th of July! Once this season hits, I’m all about easy patriotic desserts and snack ideas. Who’s with me?!
Fruit Tray Ideas
The 4th of July is always one of my favorite holidays to celebrate, especially because it means all of the family gets together. I just love the parties we throw as a family, whether it’s a big barbecue in the backyard or celebrating in simple ways like eating fun and festive snacks on the patio with the kids. Trust me, we don’t pull out all the stops every year! But I love to find simple ways to celebrate and ways that the kids will love it too.
We’ve been on a huge fruit kick lately, and I had so much fun putting together this festive fruit tray to get in the holiday spirit! We made one for Memorial Day Weekend to enjoy in the backyard, but it’s definitely on the menu for 4th of July too!
DIY Fruit Tray
This easy fruit tray comes together in just minutes. Seriously, it’s so so simple! All you need is a white board, like a cutting board or something similar, a small white square bowl, strawberries, blueberries, and yogurt covered pretzels. That’s it!
How to Make a Fruit Tray
Wash your fruit and cut the strawberries in halves. Start on your spread by adding your blueberries to your square bowl and place it in the top left of the board. Once your “stars” are in place, it’s time to add the stripes!
Patriotic Fruit Tray
Alternate lines of the strawberries with a line of yogurt pretzels across the board to create the stripes. I ended up with 5 stripes on my board, but if the base you’re using is larger, you may choose to add more.
Celebrating 4th of July
Seriously, this came together in just minutes, and I can’t get over how fun it is! Serve this as a quick and festive snack for the kids, or bring it to a party. What are you planning for the 4th of July? Do you have any fun desserts planned?! Tell me all about it in the comments below!
