This 5-minute Lucky Charms Puppy Chow is absolutely delicious and sooo easy to make! Made with crunchy Chex, pretzels, white chocolate, M&M’s, and colorful Lucky Charms marshmallows, this no-bake party mix is what we like to call leprechaun bait.

A person in a yellow, lemon-patterned dress holds a green plastic cauldron filled with Chex cereal and colorful marshmallows, with a small bowl of marshmallows and a bowl of powdered sugar nearby.

OMG! It’s SOOO good!

I’ve made Leprechaun Bait with popcorn before, but THIS Puppy Chow version is officially my favorite. If I had made this recipe while I was writing my cookbook, this easy snack definitely would have made the cut! Even my husband and kids loved it.

All about Texture & Flavor

This Lucky Charms Puppy Chow has the perfect mix of crunchy, sweet, and salty in every bite.

Chex cereal gives it that light, crispy crunch, while the pretzels add a subtle salty snap that balances all the sweetness. White chocolate creates a smooth coating that marries everything together without feeling too heavy.

Lucky Charms marshmallows bring soft and airy pops of sweetness that almost melt in your mouth. The M&M’s add little bursts of chocolate and a candy crunch that make every handful feel like a treat.

It’’s the kind of snack mix you keep reaching back into the bowl for because it’s that good!

Saint Patrick’s Day on Muddy Buddies

I like to say this Lucky Charms puppy chow is a holiday twist on classic muddy buddies. Because this version uses white chocolate instead of chocolate and peanut butter, it’s a lighter option made without peanut butter.

The combination of Chex, pretzels, Lucky Charms marshmallows, and candy creates such a sweet-and-salty mix that feels festive and fun for St. Patrick’s Day.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups Chex cereal
  • 1 cup pretzel squares or twists
  • 1 1/2 cups Lucky Charms cereal
  • 2/3 cup green and yellow M&M’s, plus more for garnish
  • 1/2 cup Lucky Charms Marshmallows from the box, plus more for garnish
  • 8 oz white chocolate bark or melting wafers
  • 1 tablespoon powdered sugar, optional

Instructions

  • Gather all ingredients
  • In a large bowl toss together both cereals, pretzel squares, and half of the M&M's.
  • Melt White chocolate for 30 second intervals, stirring in between until melted.
  • Spread the cereal mixture evenly onto a baking sheet and drizzle with melted white chocolate. Place mixture into a large bowl and mix together until the white chocolate coats everything.
  • Place mixture back onto a baking sheet and spread into a single layer then sprinkle with Lucky Charm marshmallows and reserved M&M's. Place in the freezer for 5-10 minutes or until mixture hardens.
  • Break apart the mixture and place it into a serving bowl. Garnish with Lucky Charm marshmallows and extra M&M's.

Notes

  • Let the white chocolate cool slightly before mixing so you don’t end up with soggy cereal.
  • Add extra marshmallows AFTER chilling for the prettiest look. You’ll see at the end of my video how it just makes it pop!
  • Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
