Easy 4-Ingredient Easter Treat

The other day, I surprised my kids with these pretzel chicks and they were so excited! But if I’m being honest, holiday pretzel desserts are kind of my thing—from Easter Bunny Pretzel Bites, Spring Flower Pretzel Bites, 4th of July Flag Pretzels, shamrock pretzel pops, to back-to-school apple pretzels (both featured in my new cookbook).

Growing up, my mom would almost always put a cute yellow chick in my Easter basket, so I always associate Easter and Spring with chicks. So when I wanted to create an easy Easter treat that captured that same nostalgic feeling- I knew these pretzel chicks would be the perfect Easter dessert!

The combination of sweet and salty pretzels with a satisfying crunch finished with a sweet bite of peanut butter flavor, is irresistible. It’s safe to say this Easter dessert is here to stay!

Ingredients to make Easter Pretzel Chicks

Ingredients for the easter pretzel ducks.

All you need are Mini pretzels, sprinkles (I have every color!), orange Reese’s Pieces (you can totally use orange M&M’s, too), and yellow candy melts (I always have every color, as they’re a staple for so many of my dessert creations). The ingredients are almost always on hand in my house because I’m always making easy holiday desserts with pretzels!

  • Place a black sprinkle just above the 'beak' to create the 'eye'.

Notes

Candy Melt Tips: Be careful not to overheat the candy melts, as they will seize and harden. A little shortening or vegetable oil can be used to thin them if they become too thick.
Speed Up Hardening: To expedite hardening of the candy melts, you can freeze them for about 10-15 minutes

Made these for Easter, and they’re SO cute! I was worried the candy melts would be too sweet and take over the entire snack, but the flavor totally balances with the pretzel, and the texture is great! I’ll definitely be making them again next year! Thank you so much!

These are adorable! And a huge hit. Be advised that the quality of the melting chocolate matters. Giardelli white chocolate melting wafers with gel food coloring made cute little chicks. Melt’ems discount colored melting chocolate made little alien monstrosities because the consistency was off.

Also, recommend cutting the M&Ms before starting the chocolate so you aren’t racing against hardening chocolate

So glad they were a hit! Thanks for the tip about the chocolate quality – Giardelli white chocolate melting wafers and gel food coloring for the win! And great advice about prepping those M&Ms beforehand. Appreciate you sharing your experience! 😊
