Summer Celebration
Calling all s’mores lovers! Can you believe summer is already here?! The school year has officially come to an end, and I knew we needed to line up some fun activities to celebrate. With everything that’s been going on, school looked a little different this year, and I wanted to plan something super fun, so we pretended we were camping in the backyard and threw a s’mores party!
Backyard Camping
We’ve been having so much fun in our backyard since we’ve been home more often. I’m so thankful for this space! And as the weather continues to get warmer and the days are longer, it was the perfect chance to get all of the ingredients for a super fun family activity! We spent the evening pretending we were camping and even pulled out all of the ingredients to make s’mores for an extra special treat!
S’mores Ingredients
Seriously, if you love Taco Tuesday just as much as we do around here, it’s time to bring S’mores Saturday into the mix! Everything needed to make s’mores is on sale at Smart & Final, making this that much easier to pull off! I was sure to stock up on all of the classic ingredients including JET-PUFFED Marshmallows, HERSHEY’S Chocolate, and HONEY MAID Grahams so we could really throw a party! And the best part? A bag of JET-PUFFED Marshmallows (up to $2.00) is totally FREE at Smart & Final when you buy one HERSHEY’S Milk Chocolate 6 Pack and one box of HONEY MAID Grahams until July 7, 2020. And you can even have everything delivered at home by shopping online at smartandfinal.com/shop. Talk about making it easy-peasy!
How to Make S’mores
To get the S’mores party started, put together a super simple platter with all of the ingredients. I grabbed a tin tray and put marshmallows, graham crackers, chocolate, and the marshmallow roasting sticks all on the tray for easy access. Then it’s time to party! Have the kids toast their marshmallow over the fire with your help. Once golden brown (or however you like them cooked), place the marshmallow on one graham cracker, add chocolate, and top with a second graham cracker.
Summer Activities for Kids
There’s just something so classic and nostalgic about making s’mores — I just love it! And the kids have so much fun with it too! We spent the whole evening out in the backyard laughing the night away while making s’mores. It was the perfect way to celebrate and kick off summer and create lasting memories along the way.
