Summer Treats

Summer is in full swing over here, and the days are getting longer and warmer. If we aren’t at the park, we are spending the day outside in our backyard, and I’m loving every second of it! But when it comes to having dessert, it’s getting too hot to have something warm. Luckily, I’ve found the perfect solution, and I am so excited to share this cool and refreshing watermelon milkshake with you to make at home!

Easy Summer Desserts

The kids LOVE ice cream. I mean who doesn’t?! This is why one of my go-to summer desserts is a milkshake! I also love that they’re not messy and the kids can take it to go with them as they play in the backyard! If you know me, I am all for switching up a traditional recipe a bit to make it all that much more fun. And combining two summer favorites – watermelon and ice cream – may just be my favorite combo yet!

Milkshake Ingredients

Did you know that 99 percent of California dairies are family owned? Living in sunny Sacramento, I always feel like we’re so blessed to get great dairy products and in-season produce straight from the source. The Real California Milk seal on products always makes me feel good, letting me know that it’s made with Real California Milk and coming from dairy farm families. It’s so amazing that California leads the nation in sustainable dairy production, being number one in milk, ice cream, nonfat dry milk, whey protein, and butter, and second in cheese and yogurt. Definitely something to be proud of! And we make the ingredients for this milkshake right here! ;)

All you will need for this recipe is 4 cups of cubed watermelon, Real California Ice Cream (I always choose vanilla!), and some whipped cream. Seriously, that’s it!

How to Make a Milkshake

All you have to do is add 4 cups of cubed seedless watermelon to your blender. Blend to create juice, and then blend again with 12 scoops of your favorite Real California Milk ice cream (I chose vanilla!) until smooth and creamy. Then pour your milkshakes into glasses, add whipped cream on top, and put a slice of watermelon on the side of each glass for garnish.

Best Milkshake Recipe

The kids have seriously been on such an ice cream kick recently, since it’s getting so hot out! This was the perfect treat to whip up for a hot afternoon, and they absolutely LOVED it! These summer milkshakes are so so easy to make and totally delicious, and made with 100% real California dairy. What is your favorite kind of milkshake? Let me know in the comments below, and maybe I’ll have another new favorite to try!

  1. How many shakes does this make? 12 scoops of ice cream is ALOT. Recipe doesn’t say.

Also, does the watermelon need to be frozen?
