Kids DIY Ninja Turtle Valentine’s Cards

 
Today has been such a sad day over here.  My pug, China passed away last night.  I just shared more details on what happened over on my Instagram page. I’ve been trying to do anything and everything to keep my mind off of things. I tend to do that when times get tough.  I’m so thankful to have this blog as a creative outlet- especially today!   Earlier today, Charlie, Claire and I went to the scrapbook store to make these Ninja Turtle Valentines Cards for Charlie’s class party tomorrow.  I didn’t originally plan to share these on the blog.   By the time we were all done putting these together, the kid in me was over the moon!  I don’t know if I am more excited about how EASY these were to make OR the overall innocent look of these.  A lot of times, Ninja Turtles will have mean faces or weapons, which is a big “no” in our house.  These look like innocent & nice Ninja Turtles so I am all game!
 

 
If you look carefully, you will notice jagged edges and an excess of glue.  We didn’t plan on posting these but the longer I blog, the more I find myself digging imperfections.  It makes things feel MORE real versus having that “made out of a factory” type of feel. ;)
 

Fun fact: When I was little, I always remember wishing there was a PINK Ninja Turtle.  I mean, couldn’t they have just been like Power Rangers and recruited a Kimberly?  ;)

EASY DIY Ninja Turtle Valentines Day Cards

Supplies:

• Green hearts cut out of construction paper.  (I went to my favorite scrapbook store in Sacramento, Beverly’s Unique Scrapbooking and was able to cut them right on their machines.  You can also order pre-cut from Etsy)!
• Red, Orange, Blue, Green, Pink (or desired colors) of construction paper
• Googly eyes
• Glue

Instructions: 

• If you have not ordered or made pre-cut hearts, cut construction paper into hearts.
• Have your child write their name on the back FIRST before doing the next steps.
• Cut desired colors of construction paper into the shape of the cloth Ninja’s wear on their eyes.  Glue these on the hearts towards the top.
• Glue your googly eyes on top of the “cloth” Ninjas wear over their eyes. Tip:  I took a pencil and made dots exactly where I wanted Charlie to place the glue.
• BAM!  You’re all set!  We’re taking these to Charlie’s party tomorrow. I don’t know who is more excited…. me or Charlie! One of my favorite parts about being room parent is planning all the parties and seeing all the friends reactions.
