Modern Living Room Makeover

When it comes to home makeovers, there are so many options and decisions that can really make a huge change. Whether you’re going with a fresh coat of paint, new furniture, or simply a new rug and throw pillows to match, any change can make a world of difference. Recently, our founder, Melissa, did a complete makeover of her living room, and the outcome was stunning! We’re debuting the look live on both, Best Friends For Frosting & Style Me Pretty Living. Here’s what she has to say:

“Before doing a makeover I wasn’t completely in love with our living room. Sure, it was comfy, and it wasn’t disastrous by any means, but it just didn’t scream modern like I really hoped for. I have definitely outgrown my vintage and traditional style, and it was due-time to give my previous living room look a facelift!

So I went to magazines and Pinterest boards to create the perfect look, and now, I couldn’t be happier with how my modern living room makeover turned out! I had completely moved past the old look, and now I’m so thrilled to show off my new space, exclusively photographed by Sacramento’s very own Jillian Goulding!

This makeover completely upgraded my entire home, and I couldn’t be more excited to have friends and family come over to entertain. I might sound a little crazy, but eating in the company of a gorgeous room may even make food taste better!”

Most of the items in the new room, the furniture, rug, etc. came from Wayfair. I started with a standout white sofa, paired it with a simple, chic tv stand, gold end tables, and a white leather chair, and finished the look off with a simple rug. I also added in a few of my favorite pieces of artwork and prints, like this Highway Wildflowers print and a painting from Megan Carn, as well as a lamp and brown chair scored at an estate sale. Combined, these items create the perfect functional, modern look for my family!”
