Valentine’s Flower Pretzel Bites are such an easy and cute last-minute dessert! With only three ingredients – melting chocolate, pretzels, and M&Ms – you can create a fun Valentine’s dessert that everyone will love.
Why You Should Make Valentine’s Flower Pretzel Bites
I started making these Flower Pretzel Bites when my daughter Claire was only 5 years old—they’re seriously that easy! You simply place candy melts on top of the pretzels, bake them in the oven for a few minutes, and then add M&M’s in the shape of flowers. Maybe I should have called this recipe “A Valentine’s dessert that is seriously so easy that even a child can do it!”
I am kicking myself for not including these M&M Pretzel Flowers in my new cookbook, Celebrating Every Day (100 easy recipes). These pretzel bites are sweet, salty, and so much fun to decorate—my kids just love them!

Ingredients for Valentines Flower Pretzel Bites
- Mini Butter Snap Pretzels – Just grab a 12 oz bag of mini butter pretzels. I can fit 24 mini pretzels on one standard baking sheet. I prefer butter snap pretzels over regular mini pretzels because butter snaps have a richer, more buttery flavor that complements sweet toppings and ingredients, adding an extra layer of deliciousness to your dessert.
- Cupids Blend M&Ms— Only one 10 oz bag of M&M’s. While you can use any color of M&Ms, the Cupid’s Blend is my favorite for Valentine’s Flower Pretzel Bites because it has all the traditional Valentine’s M&M colors, like red, pink, and white! You’ll be able to fit seven M&Ms on each flower pretzel bite, which means you’ll likely have leftovers. Be prepared to add them to a cute candy dish or even your snack stash.
- White candy melts – One 12 oz bag Candy Melts. These will be your sweet “glue” to attach the M&M’s to the pretzels.
How to make Valentine’s Flower Pretzel Bites
- Plan Your Flowers: Separate M&M’s by color. Create mock-ups of your desired flower designs to use as visual guides.
- Prepare Baking Sheet: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Spread pretzel snaps in even rows on the prepared baking sheet.
- Melt Candy Melts: Place a candy melt on each pretzel snap. Bake in the oven for 3 minutes, or until the candy melts soften and begin to melt.
- Create Flower Shapes: Remove the pretzels from the oven. Working quickly, press the M&M’s into the softened candy melts, starting from the center and arranging them to create flower shapes. The candy melts will begin to harden, so add M&M’s quickly.
Storage Tips
Keep flower pretzel bites fresh by storing them in an airtight container at room temperature for a few days.
For even longer storage, let them cool completely, then freeze them in a freezer-safe bag. Thaw at room temperature before serving.
Flower Pretzel Bites Variations
- Pretzels – You can use regular mini pretzels instead of butter mini pretzels, or even Ritz crackers, though you will have some of the cracker edge showing around the design. This will perfectly combine that wonderful sweet and salty flavor.
- Candy Melts – I prefer to use white or light pink candy melts so they don’t compete with the M&M’s colors. However, you can really use any color of candy melts. They make so many, like red, blue, green, yellow, purple, pink…you name it! You could also use frosting or even melt Rolos in the oven to replace the candy melts. While I’ve tried all three methods for making flower pretzel bites, I’ve found that candy melts secure the M&M’s in place the strongest. Let’s just call the candy melts the Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson of the three variations! 😉
