How to make Carrot Patch Dirt Cups

These Carrot Patch Dirt Cups come together with just Pudding Cups, Crushed Oreos, and orange-dipped strawberries.

Once you dip those strawberries into the orange candy melts, the natural green stem of each strawberry resembles a carrot stem! Now how CUTE is that?!

From Bakery Girly to Cookbook Author

Thinking back to my days working at two different bakeries, I spent countless hours dipping strawberries in chocolate. Now, as a mom, I’m still dipping strawberries, but this time in vibrant orange candy melts to create adorable “carrots” for an Easter treat! If my younger self knew I had a blog and a cookbook coming out, it would have been a full-on pinch-me moment for sure!

Two Ways to Make Dirt Pudding Cups

If you choose to make your own chocolate pudding, you can assemble your carrot patch dirt cups in clear plastic cups. But for an even quicker dessert hack, just grab pre-made chocolate pudding cups from your local grocery store. That’s what I did!

Let’s Get Digging (Pun Totally Intended!) and Make These Cute Carrot-Topped Desserts!

Ingredients to make Easter carrot dirt cups.

Ingredients to Make Carrot Patch Dirt Cups

  • Pre-made Chocolate Pudding Cups: You just need 4
  • Oreo cookies, crushed: Crush 8 Oreos (for the perfect Oreo dirt pudding)
  • Strawberries: Just 8 for dipping
  • Orange Candy Melts: 1 cup for melting to dip your strawberries in

Dirt Cup FAQs:

Can I make these pudding cups ahead of time?

Yes, especially if you are making homemade pudding. Because the Oreo crumbs can become soggy if left on the pudding for too long, it’s best to assemble no more than 2 hours before serving. Add those strawberry “carrots” a couple of hours before as well.

What if I don’t have candy melts?

Melted white chocolate with a few drops of orange food coloring can be used as a substitute. Be careful not to overheat the white chocolate, as it can become lumpy and the texture will change.

Can I use homemade pudding instead of store-bought cups?

Absolutely! Homemade pudding works great. Just add your chocolate pudding to clear plastic cups or glass cups for your dirt pudding cups.
