Snowman Veggie Tray Tutorial:

Ingredients to make this Snowman Veggie Tray:

Load your food board with plenty of vegetables and have fun getting creative. Anything that works for dipping is perfect here! I used pretzels, but crackers work great too!

This is the same food board I’ve used for the past few years, and I always get so many compliments on it!

For veggies, I added broccoli, cucumbers, baby carrots, cauliflower, cherry tomatoes, celery, and olives.

And of course, dips! You can make your own or grab premade dip from the grocery store. You know me… I love a good kitchen shortcut, so of course, in true blue Melissa Johnson style, I used store-bought spinach artichoke dip and ranch.

How to Assemble the Board

A wooden tray holding three glass bowls: one with cauliflower florets, one with a creamy dip, and one with ranch dressing. Sliced cucumbers and celery sticks are partially visible on the sides.

Start by arranging your dips first. The trick to getting that perfect snowman shape is using three dipping bowls in small, medium, and large so they create a tapered “snowman” look. Using three bowls of different sizes will resemble a snowman’s body. I grabbed these bowls from Walmart, and they worked perfectly.

I filled the largest bowl with cauliflower, the medium with with spinach artichoke dip, and leave the smallest bowl for Ranch dressing. I don’t think I’ve ever met someone who didn’t like Ranch… have you?!

Build Your Christmas Veggie Tray

Now that you’re bowls are on the tray, surround the bowls with fresh vegetables to complete the snowman veggie board. We’re talking broccoli florets, baby carrots, celery sticks, cucumbers, cauliflower, and cherry tomatoes. Group the veggies together to keep the board vibrant and organized.

Snowman’s Face & Details

A platter of fresh vegetables surrounds a bowl of dip decorated as a snowman face with olive eyes, a carrot nose, and a cucumber slice smile. Sliced cucumbers, broccoli, carrots, and cherry tomatoes are visible.

For the snowman face, just add two sliced olives for the eyes, a carrot piece for the nose, and thin cucumber slices to make a little smile. Add three sliced olives as “buttons” right on top of the spinach artichoke dip. I also sliced a red bell pepper for the scarf.

A festive veggie platter includes cherry tomatoes, carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, cucumbers, and two dips decorated as snowmen with olives for eyes and buttons and a carrot for a nose, surrounded by vegetables and pretzels.

And that’s it! So if you’re still looking for a reason to convine yourself to make this Christmas veggie board, this festive Christmas appetizer idea checks all the boxes: it’s easy, kid-friendly, healthy, and perfect for any holiday gathering. Whether you need Christmas party finger foods, Christmas party food, or cute appetizers for Christmas, this snowman veggie board is such a fun way to bring holiday cheer to your table.

  • sliced cucumber
  • celery
  • cherry tomatoes
  • sliced black olives
  • sliced red bell pepper

  •  Arrange the dipping ingredients around the dips.
  • Create a snowman face using sliced black olives for the eyes, a baby carrot for the nose and a cucumber piece for the mouth (a paring knife or water bottle cap can be used to cut the cucumber into a mouth shape).
  • Add three sliced black olives for the snowman's buttons to the medium bowl of dip.

Any of your favorite white dips and dipping ingredients will work for this recipe, get creative! Make sure to use a thicker ranch type veggie dip versus regular ranch dressing so that the snowman’s face ingredients don’t sink into the dip.
