You NEED to Try this Berry Dump Cake!

My Berry Dump cake recipe is one of the easiest and most delicious dessert recipes I have ever made! It’s a go-to family favorite I will continue making my whole life. I know that’s quite a commitment, but it’s just that darn good!

Let me tell you, if you’re looking for a recipe for a dump cake, I am your girl!

It’s My Most Viral Dessert Recipe

My berry dump cake recipe has gone crazy viral online, racking up millions of views because, if I’m being honest, it tastes unbelievably delicious for how crazy simple it is to make.

Many of my followers have shared photos of their family enjoying this berry dump cake. Everyone has so many great things to say about it, like rave reviews! It’s seriously the best recipe for a dump cake I have ever made!!

It’s Even in My New Cookbook

This dump cake recipe is so good that it was also one of my highest-demanded recipes to include in my brand new cookbook, Celebrating Every Day! And, rest assured, I can happily confirm this berry dump cake recipe is officially in my cookbook!

Ingredients to Make this Easy Dump Cake

This simple Berry Dump Cake requires just a handful of basic ingredients, including frozen strawberries and blueberries, sugar, optional lemon juice, a box of white cake mix, and butter. Don’t forget the vanilla ice cream to serve— this dump cake pairs perfectly with it!

A wooden board displaying ingredients for baking: a box of white cake mix, a bowl of blueberries, a bowl of strawberries, a stick of unsalted butter, a small bowl of liquid, and a measuring cup with sugar.

How to Make a Berry Dump Cake

To quickly make this Berry Dump Cake, simply combine frozen strawberries and blueberries in a baking dish and sprinkle with sugar and optional lemon juice. Next, evenly distribute a box of white cake mix over the fruit, top with slices of butter, and bake until golden brown. Let it cool slightly before serving with vanilla ice cream.

A Cake Alternative for Pie People

By the way, if you’ve got someone who’s definitely “Team Pie” over “Team Cake” (like my husband— hi Andy), this berry dump cake is a great way to bridge that dessert divide.

You will get the best of both worlds! I can truly vouch as my husband (AKA I want pie for my birthday) LOVES this berry dump cake too!

Dump Cake Ingredient Variations

Here are some ingredient variations you can try for your Berry Dump Cake:

Fruit:

  • Different Berry Combinations: Feel free to swap or add other frozen berries, such as raspberries, blackberries, or mixed berry blends. You can use an equal amount of strawberries and blueberries.
  • Other Fruits: While it won’t be a “berry” dump cake, you can experiment with other frozen fruits like peaches, cherries, or a mix of stone fruits. Adjust the sugar depending on the sweetness of the fruit.
  • Canned Pie Filling: For an even quicker version, you can substitute the frozen berries and sugar with two cans (around 20-21 ounces each) of your favorite berry pie filling (blueberry, cherry, mixed berry, etc.). In that case, you may want to omit the extra sugar or reduce it significantly, as pie filling already comes sweetened.

Cake Mix:

  • Yellow Cake Mix: While white cake mix is classic, try using yellow cake mix for a richer flavor
  • Lemon Cake Mix: This will complement the berries.
  • Spice Cake: Consider a spice cake mix for a warmer flavor profile, especially if using fruits like apples.

Flavor Enhancements:

For enhanced flavor, consider adding a teaspoon of vanilla or almond extract to the berries, a pinch of warming spices like cinnamon or nutmeg, the zest of a lemon or orange for brightness, or chopped nuts for added texture before baking. For a nuttier flavor, you can also brown the butter before slicing and adding it to the top. Be careful not to burn it.

Best Way to Store Berry Dump Cake

To store Berry Dump Cake, allow it to cool completely to room temperature first. Then, cover the baking dish tightly with plastic wrap or aluminum foil, or transfer the cooled cake to an airtight container. Store it in the refrigerator for up to 3-5 days. You can enjoy it cold, at room temperature, or gently reheated in the microwave.

And that’s it—this dump cake is seriously that easy and absolutely that delicious! For more easy dessert hacks with fruit, don’t miss my viral Lemon Crescent Rolls, Cinnamon Roll Apple Pies, Flower Lemon Tarts, Cherry Cheesecake Brownie Cups, and Viral TikTok Cinnamon Rolls with Heavy Cream!

Was a hit at our Easter gathering. Last minute decision to add this dish, so I used the frozen fruit I had on hand which was dark cherries and blueberries. Was delicious. Thank you!
